Fatea has always made a point of ensuring artists that are comparatively new to the music community, particularly those in the more narrative lead, more acoustic inspired genres, always have a fair crack of the whip, hence our "Giving Artists A Voice" tagline.
Up until relatively recently that has meant featuring younger artists, but there has been a trend of, shall we say, older artists that are throwing of the shackles of the rat race or starting a second career or side hustle. Interestingly, this new generation of breakout singers predominately aren't floor singers, but are more likely to be people that have only previously sung at home or in front of family and friends.
A case in point is Joe Rose.
Coming to performance late in life, Joe didn't record his first song til last year, but the 61 yr old Accountant who splits his time between Hertfordshire and Norfolk is loving every second of this new adventure as a singer. We were proud to introduce Joe to a wide appreciative audience in our Summer showcase, Explore, and are happy to share his powerful and emotional performance in this video which has been created with him by Helen Meissner at Folkstock.
This recording is one of Joe's favourite songs from his favourite musical, Les Miserables with production by Martin Lumsden at Cream Room Sound Productions.
It's Joe's fourth release on Folkstock Records, which began with a song in aid of Homestart Charity which raised almost £500, late last year, with his popular rendition of Can't Help Falling in Love. Two a capella, unaccompanied songs followed, O Holy Night and most recently Robbie Burns' Red, Red Rose which you can find on Explore. This release has attracted welcome media attention from BBC Norfolk, BBC Essex among other BBC local stations as well as London Live TV, That's Norfolk TV and the East Anglian Eastern Daily Press.
'We all go silent in the studio whenever we play Joe, makes the hairs on the back of our neck stand. He's got an ethereal sound, when you sit in a church and you just sit and listen to a captivating voice which draws you in, we can't really compare him with anyone - but we could say he's our answer to Andrea Bocelli, some of his tones definitely reminds us of him, but you have your own sound Joe' Terry Love, Dane Sound Radio
'Wow! Powerful delivery, such a terrific voice…sounds better every time I listen!' Gowan Clews, Hayes FM
‘Really brilliant, don’t you think? really moving, did you enjoy that? Terrific’ Mike Naylor BBC Three Counties
'Joe Rose has a wonderful voice and he delivers this song all the way to your heart' Mike Silver
