I had been hearing a lot about They Might Be Giants, prior to this CD. Interestingly, it seems they have been around for over twenty years. John Flansburgh and John Linnell consider themselves an alt-rock duo; on listening it is clear why. They have an interesting and very appealing sound. Having not heard any of their earlier work I cannot make a comparison but many have said this is their finest work to date.
Containing 25 songs, what is interesting is their length; short, snappy, to the point, yet often very amusing, there is something quite fascinating about this collection. It is certainly very different from anything I have heard of late. If played individually, a lot of the songs fail to make sense; played as an album, it most definitely works.
Whether new to the band, or a follower throughout their careers, this CD is certainly something a little different, for listeners of all ages.
