Artist:Stephen Reid
Song:The Song Of My Soul

This is a first for Fatea Magazine, never before have we made a song available to be listened to within the magazine. Through Fatea Showcase Sessions we regularly make available music of artists that have impressed us, but this is different.

Normally the objective of a review is to offer an opinion to influence you one way or another to give your time and possibly your money, through purchasing their work to the artist in question. This is a different kettle of fish.

Sometimes there is an occasion where the reviewer knows too much of the story behind a song to be able to review the song in an objective way. Some songs deserve to be heard without the context influencing the thoughts about the song and this is just such an occasion.

Before I give my thoughts on the piece and give you the history, I'm going to ask you to press the play button on the player, read the lyrics and then click on link after the lyrics once you've heard the whole songs

THE SONG OF MY SOUL

You're the reflection of everything I've always known
A hidden pathway that somehow could lead me home
The whisper of a secret that I've never heard
Yet your eyes can part the silence without words
Tell me, what do you see When you close your eyes to dream?
When you find a melody your heart can hold
You've found the song of my soul

You're a story with blank pages unwritten
Always waiting for the day you will begin
An open door where I discovered my destiny
A nameless face, a selfless heart, a lockless key
Tell me, what bridged this gap? We were lost and you came back
I found you in silence, yet you heard the notes
You've found the song of my soul

You're the rain crying on my window pane in June
A midnight sky with stars that outshine the moon
The wind that carries away my uncertainty
A caged canary with clipped wings who can't break free
Tell me, what is the sky To a bird that can't fly?
You're a vessel on the ocean tied to shore
You're the song of my soul.

Tell me, what do you see When you close your eyes to dream?
When you find a melody your heart can hold
You've found the song of my soul
