For those of you have never heard of The Snakes, 'Sometime Soon' is the band's second album, and from the information I researched on the internet, has got it's title because of the constant nagging question from loyal fans; 'When will the new album be ready'? Admittedly It has taken them four years, so a little impatience must surely be forgiven. Never the less whether The Snakes like it or not they have most probably conjured up hopeful anticipation and excitement in the wait for the second coming and now have to live up to their fans delight or disappointing anti climax.
However, fear not, for once a country blues rock fan, probably always a country blues rock fan. With sounds of Chris Rea, Tom Petty, David Grey, The Eagles and The Travelling Wilburys, the album is indeed what any country blues fan might want for Christmas. However I was uncertain of the bands choice in running order of tracks but that's just down to my own personal taste, and maybe I'm being picky.
Tracks that did it for me were most definitely 'Jesus in a Box' - a raunchy rockabilly track with deep gruff Bob Dylan of late vocals, and 'What Have I Done To You'; possibly the finest country blues track of the album.
By the end of 'Sometime Soon' ones ears may be ringing with that fine and well known blues harmonica, and some may also remember that good valve amp guitar sound. With a cowboys whistle, and a surprise thirteenth track displaying impressive changes and experimentation there's no doubt that The Snakes, although a little late, will not disappoint.
