It was only a couple of mornings before the Sara Lowes CDs landed in my hallway that I was complaining about only getting bills through the post nowadays. I had no idea what to expect with Lowes, and seconds after pressing the play button I was blown away (like many people after getting their Winter fuel bill).

Sara does not hold back with the production of her music, and in a good way she is almost 'in yer face'. With sounds of The Killers, Donna Summer and The Beatles you've got the intelligent pop of Lowes. It's genre is possibly jazz disco and I can imagine the last girl on the dance floor drunkenly grooving to this music. The melodies are tuneful and clever; 'Something I don't know' is outstandingly catchy and 'Vapour Trails' made me want to reach for the repeat button (had something pleasingly George Harrison about it). Powerful and upfront, this lady with the voice of golden syrup delivers music that is far from your sweet and easy pudding. The musicianship is excellent yet far from subtle. It's 'BIG' music with plenty of oomph; think of a nice big spacious stage with plenty of muso's sweating all over it, glitter balls hanging over-head and tinnitus in bed later.

As a reviewer I would like to predict every major success, however in the unstable world of the music industry these days, who can really say. Never the less Sara Lowes has all the ingredients here for international stardom.
