New Country Rehab
There are influences here from Lovin' Spoonful thru to current Canadian stars Arcade Fire with fellow Canadians New Country Rehab drawing on that Americana country sound recently popularised by Fleet Foxes. The opener "Angel Of Death" is as you'ld imagine a poignant song about living, delivered with a strong lead vocal and solid, chugging guitar.
As with much traditional influenced Americana there are typical references to trains in some of the songs, notably "Bury Me" and "The Log Train". Somehow trains seem heroic in song, but a little sad watched from the end of platform nine at Crewe.
Standout track for me was "Cameo" a superb track similar to World Party at their best combining folk, country and pop for a real aural treat. New Country Rehab have the potential to be a real popular attraction on the country and folk festivals circuit next year.
