The smallest of the festivals we're including amongst our six of the best, what Moniaive lacks in physical size, it more than makes up for in heart. It doesn't just have a folk festival, there's a guitar festival in the summer 29th-31st of August and a bluegrass festival in the autumn, 25th-27th September. It's not for nothing no less a publication than The Times described Moniaive as 'one of the coolest villages in Britain.'

For our coverage, we're focusing on the Folk Festival, now entering it's 8th year and already with a reputation for excellence and a good time. In addition to the booked acts, Moniaive also has an open stage, so take your instruments and special events for the young folk fan.

We'll be keeping you up to date with the news of the festival through out the first part of 2009.
