Megan Munroe was born in Washington but now resides in Nashville. In this, the follow-up to her 2006 debut Married to the Melody, Munroe combines a blend of country, gospel, bluegrass and blues to create her own unique musical recipe.All of the songs on this CD were written by her, eleven with Brian Oaks.

The fiddle driven opening track Angel on My Shoulder (Devil on my Back) is a striking song which recounts that place we've all been of being caught between following your conscience and surrendering to desires.

Pennies in the Ocean is a beautiful ballad (from where the CD title originates), in which Munroe sings with an easy confidence which belies her 25 years. You have to suspect that this song is more than just a little autobiographical. Moonshine is a sure contender for country radio, tinged with blues influence throughout. The story song Leavin' Memphis is perhaps the most memorable inclusion, followed by Good Fight. Nothing is Easy Anymore allows Munroe to demonstrate a certain vulnerability and regret as she sings of a recently ended relationship. Belle Meade is the most bluegrass influenced addition to the collection about the ...muddy waters of Belle Meade.

Overall this is a striking collection of songs which ought to be well received by country radio and give Megan Munroe the break she deserves.
