EP's are always good to get your hands on. They're just enough to give you a taste of an artist but in the case of Malojian's "The Broken Deer" the four tracks are just not enough.

It's got an incredible start in 'Often Wonder' and Stevie Scullion's introspective lyrics and spot on tone of wonderment tinged with barely concealed sadness give this track a wonderful melancholic feel but without straying from his personal torment.

"All I Need" swirls in on a warm and uplifting cloud where the only words uttered from Scullion are 'simple life for me/ it's all I need/ it's all I need'. Twelve words on one track? Think it's not worth a listen? You'd be wrong. These few words and the choice of accompanying music is what makes the little over two minutes track worthwhile and says more than most in its short lifespan.

"Julie-Anne" is one lucky lady (whoever she is) with this track gently screaming out how much she is loved and wanted and with a voice as gently powerful as Scullion's who could refuse him? He's a master of the quiet voice doing more than a big stick and for this the listener will surely be drawn into his heady, musing and intricate inner self.

Final track "What Will I Be" digs a space for itself to settle into for the sunset of the EP and you're so caught up in the soothing floatiness of it all that the end is a bit of a shocker. This track and the rest of "The Broken Deer" EP is a little teaser with your emotions and wants; it's gives a little bit of itself away but holds enough back to make you want to carry on the chase. Stevie Scullion is a naturally gifted singer songwriter so if you're unfamiliar with his beautifully crafted work don't wait too long to get on the busy bandwagon, you'll be sorry you missed it.
