Can You Help
Fatea has been going on for some twenty five years. We started as a paper based magazine before making a gradual transition to being an exclusively online publication. We even branched out and formed the UK's first and only, albeit short lived, CD-Rom based music magazine, Music From A New Dimension, which was really a music website before the web even existed.
During our time existence, we like to think that we have always been about the music. Getting news of what is going on with artists to a wider audience. The site runs on a simple principle we try to cover as much as we can.
One of our mantras is that it's easier than ever to record a cd, harder than ever to get it heard, we like to think that through the magazine and the sister Fatea Showcase Sessions site we contribute to helping to give artists a voice, well if not give them a voice, help make it louder.
It's there that we're really asking for your help. Fatea is run exclusively by volunteers, it's the ultimate not for profit, and there is only such much people can do as individuals, but as part of a bigger whole we can do so much more, feature more bands and gigs etc.
We are always on the lookout for more writers, photographers, designers, basically if you think that you can make a practical contribution that will help us get news about more bands or things happening in the music industry to more people please get in touch. In the same way we've helped musicians through what we've published, we've helped up and coming writers/photographers with their portfolios, we know it's a two way process and contributors choose the level of their involvement, because we appreciate you're a volunteer.
It doesn't have to be directly about one act, or though you are more than welcome just to write a piece about an artist in your area that you think deserves wider coverage, after all if you don't, who is, it might be about arts funding or a new venue opening or a campaign to save an old one from closing down.
There's only so many hours in a day, venues that can be visited. If you've really enjoyed a cd or a festival, then why not tell other people about it?
Over the years we've been the first publication to review a number of artists that have gone onto win industry awards. Admittedly, we've also reviewed a lot of artists that haven't, but a consistent piece of feedback that we get from artists, particularly those producing and releasing their own material is how comforting/inspiring it is to know that they're music is being listened to and written about.
If you think you might be able to help us to help the musicians that we cover, be it writing, photography, designing, please get in touch.
We're particularly looking for another writer in the Poole/Bournemouth and Nottingham areas at the moment
