After hearing Andrea Pattinson played on radio and looking her up on MySpace, I was amazed to learn she hails from Sunderland ; just up the road! Small world.
Stormy’s Daughter is her debut album and it is clear on first listen that many of the songs, a mixture of uptempo tracks and stirring ballads, are very personal to her.
The moving title track tells the listener of her relationship with her father, whilst Nobody’s Baby talks of her experiences growing up in Sunderland , as part of a large family. Starting From Here was written last year whilst planning her wedding.
There can be doubt that Andrea has a good voice, which, coupled with the right songs, should be well received by country/ folk fans alike.
Interestingly, Andrea cites Dolly Parton as one of her greatest influences and is undertaking a tour of North East theatres with the Dolly tribute show which she has put together.
There is also talk of some dates to promote the CD in the pipeline. For now, however, a copy of the Cd will have to do, even if it does leave you wanting more.
