Helen Andrews(Amalthea) Success & Injury

Highlights of this year include performing live and being interviewed on BBC Southern Counties Radio in February, as well as two appearances on Porstmouth's Express FM (Amalthea were later nominated for a Golden Plectrum Award for their second performance for Express FM). As last year's winners of the Portsmouth News Guide Award, (Best Folk/Roots Act), Amalthea took part in a showcase evening at The Kings Theatre (Portsmouth) in June. Amalthea were also asked to perform at this year's Guide Awards ceremony in November, being nominated again for Best Folk/Roots Act. The duo also enjoyed performances at Fareham and Gosport Festival in April, and at Liberties Cafebar, as part of the Isle of Wight Arts Festival week, in July.

Lead vocalist and guitarist, Helen Andrews, suffered a hand injury in July, which forced the duo to take some time out from performing. The two used this time to think creatively about new material to perform in 2008. Their next performance will be at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park Visitor Centre (Waterlooville), on Friday 18th January 2008.

Helen Andrews also spent much of 2007 working on a solo album, which is due for release in 2008
