One of the hardest working bands at Cambridge 35 were the Saw Doctors. Not only did they perform two sets, they also played the Festival Crew in a fiercely contested five aside soccer match.
The match played to raise funds for charity, this year St. Johns Ambulance, was the third in a series of matches. The Saw Doctors' emphatic five two victory giving them a series lead of two one.
I
managed to drag Leo away from a racing game backstage at Adhoc
for a quick chat with his goodself and Pearse.

#N You spent a long time touring this year, particularly in the States. Did you enjoy it ?
#P We spent six weeks there. We're pushing on agewise, but we're a young band as far as America is concerned. We have to play tours that'll take us to places like Kansas, where we might not play to a lot of people, but it gives you something to build on. It's starting to come together. The cities with a lot of Irish decent are good for us, but it's picking up elsewhere. I think six weeks might be too long for us. Ultimately I'd like to spend a better mix of time in the studio and time touring
We do great live performances, but it's the songs that make a performance. It's like putting the cart before the horse by touring too much without new songs. I do enjoy touring, but I don't think it's as important as the songs.
#N You did a Web diary on the tour what was the story behind that ?
#P I've always liked computers and a friend of mine, Mick, who I did physics with at college offered to do us a website. That was about three years back. He's updated it, but people kept on asking us for something a bit more current. We decided to hell with it lets do the diary. It'll give us something to do. So we convinced Leo to buy a laptop. We got ourselves a good expensive camera, which then disappeared. Some claim that it was mislaid, I say it was stolen. Anyway Canon came on board, our only sponsor, and let us have another camera. The idea was to keep our fans updated, but it also allowed us another way of keeping in touch with the kids.
#N
You're playing five aside again this year. Last time you got beat
three two....
#P That was the time before. Last time we won, I should know, I scored the winner.
#L He's right, we're on a roll.
#N Are there any plans to draft in Niall Quinn as the fifth man this time ?
#P We're not going to announce any team.
#L There'll be a lot tactics with the team announcement. No one will know the team until we run out.
#P Davy's wife Trish, is on the bus painting names onto the back of the jerseys. We'll sell them at the end of the game for charity.
#L That's a good idea, no one told me about that.
