Kate Rusby is part of the new wave of British folk that seems capable of doing almost anything. Kate is at home as both a solo artist, part of a duo or in a band. She performed last year as part of the Poozies.

Kate draws on a wide range of traditional and contemporary material and delivers it with a freshness that breathes new life into the material.

As recently as five years ago, English folk was in danger of being swamped by it's Celtic counterparts, Kate is part of the generation that has brought it back to the public ear. There is plenty of energy in English music and Kate has the knack of being able to live off that energy and amplify it.

More importantly, she can capture the emotion of the song. When she's singing a song about betrayal, you could almost believe it was her that was betrayed. When she sings of an illicite affair with a C17th soldier, you can almost feel her slipping out onto the old coach road.

If proof were required that English folk music has long since lost it's finger in ear, woolly jumpered accountants tag, Kate Rusby is it.
