It's been said that anyone whose anyone in the British folk scene has played in the Albion Band, well if that is the case, John Tams has paid his dues.

John Tams: Photocredit Krl GreenowJohn Tam is a product of the folk boom of the mid-Sixties, but it could be argued that his writing skills weren't finely honed until the early Seventies. That decade saw him acclaimed not only for his writing, but his performance and production as well.

Not only that, he was pit band leader at the National Theatre for over ten years. Yep it's easy to apply that over used word multifaceted when it comes to John Tam. Especially if you also include his acting, he played Rifleman Daniel Hagman in Sharpe, amongst others.

Somehow he has also found time to contribute to the best part of thirty albums during his career, in a variety of rolls. Most importantly during that time he has never lost his passion for music.

1999 sees John, together with band, back on the road and at Cambridge "Just to sing some 20th century songs before it's too late."

With such a wealth of material and experience behind him, as well as some pretty mean musicians, it's almost impossible to predict what a set from the John Tams Band is going to be like, except you can be sure it's going to be entertaining.
