44th Cambridge Folk Festival

Features

We're going to be adding to features for a while now. You'll find other reviews of the festival here as well as articles on aspects of the festival that you may not always get to see.

Fatea Presents The Pit Ponies

Over the years you'll have noticed various photographers in the various photo pits in front of Stages 1 & 2 and side stage at the Club Tent. If you don't see them in the first three numbers of any act, the chances are you'll miss them. Friendships have grown in the pits and the regular snappers are nicknamed The Pit Ponies because they are always lugging their gear in and out

This year there was an exhibition of the work of some of the pit ponies in the backstage bar. We wracked our brains to try and think of somewhere they could have gone in a more public area, but were defeated. We've put up copies of the pictures in the gallery area of the site, or just click on the links below.

View From The Back

Bryan Ledgard is a Cambridge legend amongst the photographers. He's got the snappers holy grail, an access all areas pass. He's also a really great guy, imbued with the spirit of Cambridge, if there's an unscheduled guest star or something unexpected happening around the site, chances are Bryan knows about it and lets on. Bryan has been generous enough to let us have some of his pics for the gallery. Click here to go straight there.

My Own Personal Cambridge

Fatea has always believed that there isn't one Cambridge Folk Festival each year, but rather lots flying in close formation. Inevitably some members of the Fatea team end up watching the same thing, we always see something different. With hundreds of thousands of combinations available we like to capture as many festival experiences as possible. If you've got a small memory you'ld like to share please go to that section. Click hereto mail us if you'ld like to post a full review.
Articles marked (f) are written by the Fatea team. A big thanks to anyone who submits their peronal Cambridge for us to share. Don't worry if you haven't got photos, we'll drop in what we can.

In Search Of A Session

One of the great things about Cambridge Folk Festival is that even if you're not a booked act, you might still be able to play the festival. The Club Tent operates a sign up to play policy. This year we asked Club Tent veterans Cruel Folk to document their experience for us and who knows, maybe help you play next year.

Continuity DJs

You'ld have heard a lot from Bob Patterson and Alan O'Leary. They're the guys that provide the music between the sets on Stage 1, whilst the crew are changing the stage for the next performer. If there's a track you heard and weren't sure what it wass, this is the place to find it. Thanks to Bob and Alan for the info
