44th Cambridge Folk Festival

Whapweasle

Whapweasel have long been recognised as one of the finest ceilidh bands in the country, which is why they've played and lead the Friday night ceilidh before. Well this year their back to do the calling duty again.
There's more to the band than just playing ceilidh, they've a string of albums to back their live performance. One of the reason's why they've gained their reputation is because of the way they approach the dance tradition. Keyboards and a brass section complement more traditional ceilidh instrumentation.
The Friday Night Ceilidh is one of Cambridge's most enduring tradition. It reflects that not all folk is about the music a lot of it is about te dance. There's seperate ceilidh opportunities for the younger generation and the main one is normally broken up with a band to give you the chance to get your breath back. Generally it's not too complicated so that it should be fun for every one.
