The Chair
Like Shetland, Orkney as an Island group boxes well above it's weight as far as the good traditional band production line is concerned, The Chair being the latest to get out and about.
They were actually formed in 2004 for Orkney's own folk festival and have been going from strength to strength ever since, playing numerous gigs and festivals on the Highlands and Islands as well as further afield.
As with many large bands, this chair having some sixteen legs, they are capable of maintaining drive and energy across a long and varied set. A spirit they managed to capture on their debut album, "Huinka"
Similarly like a lot of tune derived bands they get to take some real liberties with the song titles, check out "The Folky Gibbon", after whome they named their record label.
Should be an absolute riot, be prepared to dance, if you can find the room.
