Mike McGoldrick Band

Mike(Michael) McGoldrick is a festival regular, often appearing as a sidesman with one or other of the bands that have been booked. This year he returns with his name to the fore as The Michael McGoldrick band, a configuartion that hasn't played the festival since 2004.
Mike plays as part of Capercaillie, he's often out and about with Sharon Shannon amongst many many others, Toss The Feathers, Kate Rusby Band and Floook are just some more of the band's he's contributed to.
Michael McGoldrick has been virtually constantly in demand since he wong a Young Tradition Award back in 1995. He added instrumentalist of the year in 2001 and artist of the year in 2006. Quite simply when it comes to playing the whistles there are few that can hold a candle to him. It's not just his playing that he's founded his reputation on either. He also kmows how to pen a pretty mean tunes as well as adapt others.
Either as a lead contributor or as a special guest, Michael McGoldrick has been involved in literally dozens of albums. In the years 2005-2007 alone, his name appeared on tewnty albums. McGoldrick is a great musician. He is surrounded by top musicians so expect something very special.

Post Festival Thoughts

Mike McGoldrick is one of the best multi instrumentalists out there. He's assembled a fantastic corp of musicians to work with. A lot of his music is there to be danced to, but he makes it interesting so that it can be listened to in it's own right, not always as easy task. There's life in his music, it has a vitality to it.
