Marina Florance

Marina Florance wasn't a name that had crossed my radar until a couple of weeks ago, when she got in touch to let me know that she'd be playing the Club Tent this year.
She's also a relative local having recorded her recently released "Somewhere Down The Line" album at the High barn in Essex. It's an album which drifts between Americana and folk in a contemporary style. There is a sense of mischief in both Marina's vocal tone and her delivery.
I've absolutely no reason to doubt that Marina will turn an equally strong performance with her live work as she has with a her recorded work, reviews of which have drawn comparisons with The Dixie Chick's Natalie Maines.
So far most of Marina's outings have been in East Anglia, which is probably the reason most of us from further afield have missed her. Hopefully a good performance at the clun tent will expose her to agents and bookers and her reaching out to the wider country.
I liked the album and I'm hearing good things.
Marina is being touted for a Club Tent Appearance on the Friday, keep your eyes on the boards.
