44th Cambridge Folk Festival

John Hiatt

Hailing from Indianapolis, it was almost inevitable John Hiatt was going to pick up an interest in car racing, that he also picked up an interest in music is a considerable bonus. It lead to him writing literally hundreds of songs, playing hundreds of gigs, recording seventeen albums under his own name. He's played blues and new wave in addition to the country music that he's probably best known for.
He managed to make the transition from critical success to commercial success, particularly in his native America. He also managed to pick up eleven Grammy nominations along the way. This year sees hime making his Cambridge Folk Festival debut.
For a while it looked like Hiatt was going to remain best known as a writer, penning songs for the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Faith No More, the late great Jeff Healy and Rosanne Cash, amongst others. Songs like "Thing Called Love", "Have A Little Faith In Me and "Angel Eyes".
Following a three year gap, John Hiatt releases his new album, "Same Old Man" is May.
