It only takes a quick glance at the photo to realise that Groupo Fantasma hail from the U S of A, Austin Texas to be precise.
The size of the band might also give away they are a latin based party band complete with their own resplendent horns section, as well as guitars and congas.
I know some of you out there are thinking, 'Grupo Fantasma, I recognise that name from somewhere.' That might be because they spent last August, to great critical acclaim, supporting Prince. And now there's a sly grin on your face and you're thinking, "That's it, but I won't let my folk friends know that :-)"
They've picked up latin awards like they're going out of fashion, best latin, best latin rock and most impressively best horns. This is a band that knows how to have a good time and take that good time to the audience.
Latin music has always scored highly at Cambridge, introducing more than the odd sceptic to a new sound. Sun blazing or hot sweaty evening, let you hair down and dance.
