Eric Bibb
Eric Bibb makes a very welcome, and some would say long overdue, return to Cambridge. Since he's been away, he's risen in prominence and is arguably one of the best folk/blues balladeers performing today.
A native New Yorker, most of Eric's blood family were involved in performing in one way or another, his godfather was singer/actor Paul Robeson. With such a heritage it was a little surprising that it was Europe,
initially Sweden that spotted his talent, first as a writer, then as a performer. From his base in Scandinavia, he first conqured Europe and subsequently America.
During his performing career he has appeared as part of ensembles and bands, but it really is his love and appreciation of balladry in blues that has proved to be the rock upon which is career was built. He also
has that key ingredient for a solo performer, presence. He is able to fit in on any other size of stage and somehow make it feel intimate.
Eric recently recorded an interview for our sister publication, Fatea magazine. As part of that interview, Eric discussed his appearances at Cambridge Folk Festival. The interview can be found HERE
