Cherryholmes
Cherryholmes are making their Cambridge debut after a series of stunning performances at venues as diverse as the Grand Ole Opry and Celtic Connections, winning the IBMA's Entertainers of the Year in 2005.
Not bad for a family bluegrass band that had only come into existance in April 1999, when the youngest member of the band, Molly Kate(left handed fiddle) was just six. She was only 7 when she first appeared at the aforementioned Opry.
The band covers two generations. Pop is Jere, standup bass player and manager of the band. Alongside him stands Mom, mandolin and banjo. The kids kick off with Cia Leigh who at 15 when the band started in '99 gave her a 9 yaer gap on her youngest sibling. Cia Leigh
brings guitar and banjo to the lineup. B.J.(11) adds another fiddle, whilst younger brother, Skip(9) guitar and mandolin, which brings us back to Molly Kate.
Cherryholmes bluegrass is infused with gospel sensibilities, powered by some of the tightest blood harmonies you're gonna hear in quite a while.
Currently signed to the Skaggs Family label, Cherryholmes already have a back catalogue of five albums, with many of the songs penned from inside the band.
Cambridge has a reputation for finding top quality bluegrass and this year they seem to have done us proud
