Billy Bragg
Based in Dorset, home of the Trade Union Movement, it's been six years since singer/songwriter Billy Bragg last played Cambridge. He makes up for it this year by not only playing as him self, he's also playing
as part of the renown folk ensemble Imagined Village.
Billy has never been afraid to use song in the fight for sopcial and political justice. In the absence of a fair voting system he has campaigned for borrowed votes to unite against a given candidate. That said it's
the music that Billy is best known for, songs like "New England" a massive hit for the late lamented Kirsty MacColl have seen him achieve as a writer. Solo and band outings have seen him achive success as a performer.
Billy has teamed up with many different artists over the years, some for one off songs at festivals others over a longer period. His flexibility in adapting to the sound of others has allowed him to reach to a wider audiences
that he may not have been able to communicate to had he stayed within his own confines and it was no surprise to see him at the core of Imagined Village
We're almost duty bound to see this essence of a true folk musician.
Billy Has recently released a new album, "Mr Love And Justice" on Cooking Vinyl
