The Waterboys

It's taken a good few years, but we finally get to see one of the world's greatest festival bands on one of the world's greatest festival stages. When Mike Scott first put The Waterboys together back in '83 you could almost believe it was with the intention of blagging his way into as many festivals as possible.
The band has had many changes over the years, but the best versions have always involved Steve Wickham, and drifted from roots rock into pure folk and back again. Great musicians including the likes of Sharon Shannon have come and gone. Even the name went for a while while Mike Scott went solo.
None of which really matters. you only have to hear the first few chords of the band's new album "Book Of Lightning" to know that the band are back with avengence. The power of music meets the power of performance.
