Mabon

Named after the Mabonigion, it should come as no surprise to discover that Mabon are not only based in Wales, but Welsh at core. (There's one or two other Celts from other parts of this Sacred Isles that have joined the band since they expanded from a five piece to seven)
The band's expansion also brought with it the recording of a second album, "Ok, Pewter", an album title that not only parodies Radiohead, but also harks back to some of the influences that this band have had on their style. Essentially it's Celtic music, but drawing in from the wider heritage and adding some pretty good ideas of their own.
It the heart of the band is accordion player and founder, Jamie Smith. He provides the engine that gives the band their slightly different take on Celtic music. The band have played in many of the Celtic Heartlands, but this is their first visit to Cambridge. I haven't seen them live, but the recordings are full of promise.
