43rd Cambridge Folk Festival

La Vent Du Nord

Quebec bands have normally gone down well at Cambridge and there is no reason why should break up that run. Well actually there might be one. A quick glance at the band's instrument list shows that this band has a hurdy-gurdy and they're not afraid to use it.
Leaving aside the polarising impact of the hurdy-gurdy, there is much passion and energy about La Vent Du Nord. It wasn't for nothing they landed themselves a Juno in 2004, just two years after the band was formed. The band recently filmed a tv special alongside other former Cambridge acts, La Bottine Souriante and La Volee d'Castors
La Vent Du Nord should be one to watch, québecois bands have a habit of delivering the good s and taking the audience with them. Just keep and eye and an ear, or two, on that hurdy-gurdy!
