Jackie Oates
2006 was a good year for Jackie. As part of Rachel Unthank And The Winterset, where she was the principal fiddler, she won the FATEA live performance award. Jackie, however
is far more than just a fiddle player. Her performance on her solo debut album also saw her coming second in the favourite female vocal category.
Since then Jackie and the Winterset have parted company and Jackie has fopcused a lot more of her attention on her burdgening solo career. She's also managed to find time to join a
new band, Wistman's Wood. (It's a rare folk artist that only has one project on the go.)
Jackie's music tends to be rooted in the tradition, but with a good few contemporary twists to keep the whole thing living and vibrant. Jackie has come up through the various folk
youth projects and spends a deal of her time putting back into them. She flourished as an artist over the last three years and this should be a performance to look forward to.
