43rd Cambridge Folk Festival

Four Men And A Dog

Sixteen years separate the last appearance of four Men And A Dog and this one. Since their debut at Cambridge, not long after their debut album, "Barking Mad", an album that made them the first Irish Band to win Folk Root's album of the year, the band have become more of a collective.
There's a core of the original musicians at the heart of the band, but over the years, the band has changed line-up as members have come and gone.
If you just take Four Men And A Dog albums, you couldn't exactly accuse the band of being prolific either. It's a different story if you count the solo projects of band members as well as albums recorded with other bands.
By strange coincidence the last time I saw them live was at Cambridge sixteen years ago and my memory of their performance was a little fuzzy. Fortunately I found the review I wrote of the festival in '91 and it appears I enjoyed them, but either didn't get a good photo or take any. (film was expensive back then.)
