43rd Cambridge Folk Festival

Askew Sisters

As we've said before Cambridge is very much a family festival, something that seems to apply as much to the acts as well as the paying guests. The Askew Sisters are definitely part of this as we'll see when sisters Emily and Hazel play the Club Tent.
London born bred, both girls were in Hampshire based band Rubber Chicken. It's as a duo that they've really scored their successes. They reached the semi of the Young Folk Awards and have gradually been adding major folk festivals to their belt.
A mini album, "Six By Two" saw the light of day in 2005, bringing with it critical acclaim. There's a rumour of a full length debut in time for Cambridge This Year. As with so much of England and the UK's rising generation of folk musicians, definitely worth taking break from the mainstages if you get the chance.
