42nd Cambridge Folk Festival

2005 was a spectacularly successful year for Seth Lakeman. Not only did he pack out the Club Tent with a fantastic performance, his Kitty Jay album managed to get a Mercury Short List nomination, in a list that had not one but two stars representing the folk genre.
2006 has continued pretty much where 2005 left off. His new album, “Freedom Fields” has been attracting rave reviews across the board. Recorded once again in the Piano Kitchen of brother Sean. The album sees Seth continue to grow as both a writer and interpreter of song.
This year sees Seth returning to Cambridge as the rising star of English folk music. The apprenticeship has been an interesting one. Experience in bands like the Equation and touring with the likes of Billy Bragg and The Oysterband means that Seth should hopefully avoid the burn and bust that can be associated with being the next big thing.
Seth Lakeman on Cambridge’s bigger stages is almost certainly going to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival. Take a highlighter and mark this one in the programme.
