42nd Cambridge Folk Festival

Emmylou Harris

It goes to show what tricks the mind can play. I was convinced that Emmylou Harris was a real daughter of the 60s, totally editing out of my mind, that it was the 70s that was when her career really kicked off. I remembered the collaborations with Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison, but had forgotten those with Beck and Ryan Adams. Whatever the reason for it I’m grateful that I’m going to get the opportunity to do something to put my memory straight by catching her on a Cambridge Stage.
As well as being a great and influential singer/songwriter, Emmylou has put her efforts into a number of causes, including the Campaign For A Landmine Free World and PETA amongst others.
She is an artist with a poets soul and brings a genuine emotion to performance. I’ve seen her play intimate and I’ve seem her play large, whatever the venue, she draws the audience in to such a degree you almost forget where you are. Emmylou Harris really is a legend. The lady’s got a lot to say and there’s a lot worth listening to. One to be in the tent early for.
