Croft No.5

One music that seemed to be enriched by the trend of throwing some hardcore dance sensibilities at a traditional folk music and calling it x fusion, was traditional Scottish music. It even drew it’s own nickname, acid croft and the name stuck.
Whoever would have predicted that throwing a whole load of technology at some really old instrumentation would have produced a sound that delivered the goods like it did. Well originally, to a degree, Capercaillie, but it was the late, lamented Martyn Bennett that showed just what the genre had in store.
Fortunately the style had developed a mini-scene before Martyn’s untimely death and the sound and the legacy continue to grow and adapt as a fully fledged folk music.
Croft No 5 are one of the bands that have taken up the mantle, taken those predecessors and then stamped their own particular flavour across the marquee. The result being something of the genre and something of Croft No 5’s own.
This is going to be high energy, with plenty of drive and enough punch to exorcise any left over demons. I’m betting on a late night outing for these boys.
