Cara Dillon
Cara Dillon is no stranger to the Cambridge Stage,
having played it as both a solo artist and as part of young Irish folk band
Oige. Having left Oige, Cara spent time in what is proving to be folk music’s
most juxtaposition supergroup, The Equation. Everyone that went trough that band
has had great success, even if, for whatever reason, the band never fulfilled
it’s potential as a whole.
I digress. Crystal voiced Dillon returns to
Cambridge with a fantastic new album, “After The Morning” that builds on the
success of “Cara Dillon” and “Sweet Liberty”. The album and her band include
soul mate Sam Lakeman, who also produced the album, as well as the much under
appreciated Neill MacColl.
Cara Dillon has proved to be a consummate
performer who can deliver the goods with just her voice or accompanied by
musicians. It’s been four years since she was here last and that seems like way
too long. Another artist for which we suspect it will be standing room only and
one for which we tingle with anticipation.

Post Festival Notes
Cara Dillon has evolved in to a highly confident performer with the voice of a siren. She draws you
in and reaches you on an emotional level. Her songs are moving and at times witty. She makes the songs her own
even if they are drawn from folks rich treasure chest. By her own admition, she prefers the intimacy of the Radio
Two Stage and fortunately that's where I saw and heard her perform. She has awhole host of experiences under her belt
and has used them to create a fantastic stage presence. A real gem.
