42nd Cambridge Folk Festival

The Broken Family Band

Your never quite so cross with a child when they break something of their own, in this case their family. It was a self fulfilling prophecy. Their parents tried teaching them to swim by bundling them into a sack and throwing it in the river. When most kids were getting teething rings, the broken family band were getting razorblades.
Despite their strange and mixed childhoods, that even had social services scratching their heads, mainly because of the lice, and thinking that maybe on this occasion the parents had the right idea, The Broken Family Band managed to survive childhood and become a pretty good alt.country band.
Apart from alt.country the band have managed to avoid most labels as they've continued to release records and pick up recognition. This year's featival appearance is on the back of the latest album "Balls". Since the band formed they've been releasing at a rate of an album or mini album a year. It's been a couple of years since the Broken Family Band were last at Cambridge , when they also had a number of local guest stars.
I'm sure they'll put on a pretty good show, they normally do. For me it'll depend on the band getting a clean run and being on against something that I've seen before or really don't fancy.

Post Festival Notes
Well, I manged to miss them apart from one song as part of a floorshow in the bar on Thursday night. That said all of the reports I got back were that they played a couple of top draw sets in front of a home crowd.
