The Black Umfolosi 5

Back in 2001, Zimbabwe's Black Umfolosi put on a really spectacular show on the Radio Two Stage. The show consisted of Native dancing and tight acapella singing.

As well as the more traditional forms of dance, the troupe also perform the gum boot dancing that  sprung up amongst the mining community.

The Black Umfolosi 5 are a subset of the troupe that are largely back in the UK during the summer for work shops that look at the cultural background ofboth the singing and the dance.

The shows really are something to behold and if the band are involved in workshops this time around, it would definitely be worthwhile going along.
