41st Cambridge Folk Festival

Brian Mcneill holds the record for the most successive credited Cambridge Folk Festival appearances. This is because he's not only a great fiddle player, he's also the host of the festival session.

In his roll as host he has introduced, and played alongside, some of the greatest names in folk music from all over the world.

For those of you who have never been to a Cambridge Folk Festival, the session is something to behold. It takes over the Radio Two Stage for most of the Saturday.

It brings together players from lots of the bands playing that year and throws them into a mix. Sometimes performing together, other times with people they might have only just met.

Often you can hear them talking outside, asking each other if they know this tune, or that.

The Cambridge Session is something to behold. Brian McNeill is a great host and a pretty mean fiddler too.

POST FESTIVAL VERDICT

I missed his actual performance, except for when they all come on at the end. It was well hosted session with many great guest slots.
