Julie Fowlis

Julie Fowlis performed last year in a showcase for the band Dochas. We described Dochas as the Go-Go's of the folk world. This year Julie Fowlis returns, Jane Weidlin like in solo mode.

The reason that I use Weidlin as the reference for Western Isles born Fowlis, is that like the former Go-Go, Julie is able to crack it both as a vocalist and instrumentalist.

Julie has a solo album due out which she co-produced with Iain MacDonald. The album has another Battlefield Band link as one of the other guests on the album is a certain John McCusker.

Julie Fowlis is a blooming talent that seems to be taking to her wings at the moment. Possibly a last chance to catch her in such an intimate festival setting.
