Christy Moore

The fact that Christy Moore is in his fifth decade of paid gigs shows something of the man's staying power. The fact that he's not the oldest performer here also shows something about the capacity of folk performers to dodge coffins.
What other genres apart from roots have the capacity to see youfrom your teenage years and well into your dotage? And have them on the same stage? I digress.
One of the reason's Christy has lasted so long is quite simple. He's one of the finest performers of songs to come out of the Emerald Isle.
Christy sings with a passion regardless of the type of song, be it emotional, political, traditional or contemporary. Moore has the ability to fire the song and the audience with it. It's been a while, some would say too long, since he was last here.
Looking forward to having him back
POST FESTIVAL VERDICT
Christy lost out in the duel with Idlewild for my attention. I was very pleased with what I saw. A friend who saw Christy described his performance as sublime. A second friend said that he was surprised how many younger folk fans had opted for Christy Moore and knew the words, before adding cryptically, imagine if they'd seen him at his best.
