The last band from down under to play Cambridge set all sorts of sales records for their album during the course of the weekend, so The Cat Empire have a lot to live up to.
The Cat Empire are a completely different kettle of fish. The band have a jazz meets hip hop infussion about them, something distinct and different.
There's a very night club, Cuban Party atmoshere about them, they wouldn't be out of place leading a group of fire eaters at a Mardi Gras parade.
The Cat Empire are about rhythm and sound more than they are song. It's sultry, it's lively, it's refreshing, it's get down dirty, sexy,latin music with a contemporary twist.
This will get both field and tent jumping, drink, dance be merry.
POST FESTIVAL VERDICT
Did exacltly what it said on the box. Latin with a twist and a dash of jazz. Lively, entertaining, but not to the more traditional taste. I enjoyed it.
