The Bills

The mysterious disappearance of the Bill Hilly Band at the same time as the emergence of The Bills is easily explained. They are one and the same band.
There was a feeling that the old name might leave the band with a tarnished reputation as a novelty act and so out with the old moniker and in with the new.
2002 saw the band leaving their native Vancover Island with a determination to break the US of A, something they are beginning to achieve.
The band draw on many of the musical styles that have influenced Canadian Rootys music and then add a Western Atlantic under current.
All five members of the band are multi instrumentalists and the band have built their reputation up on the live circuit. The next stage is to catch that passion in their recording and fortunately Cambridge is a live event.
POST FESTIVAL VERDICT
This was ok. There was nothing distinctive enough to seperate them from a number of equally competent bands. If they played around the corner, I'd go and see them, but I wouldn't travel too far
