41st Cambridge Folk Festival

Bellowhead

Winner's of the BBC Folk Awards Best Live Act, Bellowhead managed to whip their audience at last year's Sidmouth Festival into such a frenzy, they literally broke the floor.

The band are a ten piece English traditional band who count the likes of Boden and Spires amongst their number. Throw in the likes of Pete Flood, Rachael MacShane and Benji Kirkpatrick and you begin to get an idea of where this band are coming from.

If you haven't yet caught this combo live, let's just say, this is the band that the word dynamic has been waiting for. There's just so much energy. A big band gives you a chance to hide and catch your breath. It won't be so easy to do so in the audience.

There's a very good reason why this band have blasted their way into the scene and it's not just the horn section, it's one of the hottest properties around.

Miss them at your peril.

POST FESTIVAL VERDICT

I only saw the Main Stage set and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting more for the BBC Radio Two Folk Awards Best Live Band. It might have been that the audience was still a little down from the Christy Moore set previous. It just didn't gel for me.
