Altan
Fronted by the highly charismatic Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh, Altan have long been festival favorites, not just at Cambridge, but all over Europe.
A six piece, Altan, hail from a number of different parts of Ireland, but with a focus on Donegal. The thing that links all of the band members is being immersed in songs and tunes from a very young age.
The band has an album count that comes into double figures and are capable of capturing their live feeling in the series of 0s and 1s that most music is delivered in these days.
Altan really understand their craft. They have a genuine raport with the audience and can play pretty much any where, any how and make a stage their own, be it a small hall or a gert big tent.
The band have performed all around the world to the same rapt attention. Twenty years of music making allows you to explore your sound and fellow musicians to the full. The band give a lot to their audience and get a lot in return. This one's a must. Get down to the front of the tent early if you want to watch. Stay at the back if you want to dance.
Gweedore's finest, set for another great gig I'm sure
