Josh Ritter

Josh Ritter has been described as the new Loudon Wainwright, which might be good as the original is getting on a bit, but like all comparisons, it's not really true and sells both artists short.

I first heard Ritter on the closing credits of Six Feet Under, apartently he beat They Might Be Giants to that gig, only I didn't realise it at the time.

I did know I liked the song, both for it's lyric and it's slightly quirky delivery style.

I tend to be nervous of artists that attract descriptions like 'off the wall' and 'a one off', but an examination of Ritter's two album career seem to bail out the promise. The real test is whether he can sustain it and it it's as good as the first two and he can carry it off live, then all power to him
