The Waifs

One of the things I like about doing this site, is researching the names that I don't know.

You never know when you're going to comes across a little gem like The Waifs

In this case the gems are opals and hailing from a land down under. The glints are provided by Vikki, Donna and Josh, the songs draw on traditional Aussie themes, family values, travel, a sense of belonging, masturbation.

Vikki and Donna are sisters from Albany WA. They met up with Josh on the road back in '92. Three years of touring in a VW Camper culminated in a debut album, "The Waifs" in 96' with two guys from Weddings Parties Anything running the desk.

Since then there have been two more albums, The most recent being Sink Or Swim. They may be a bit under exposed thus far, but this trio are my tip for the surprise hit of the festival.

After the festival, The Waifs managed to leave their video camera in a taxi. The tape that was in the camera has the band's tour memories. If you know the whereabouts of the tape in the camera please return it to.
