Brian McNeill

A stalwart of the folkscene, Brian McNeill is a master of his craft. A great fiddle player and performer, he is a man that is at the heart of the living tradition.

Regardless of the era in which a song or tune was written, Brian has the ability to breathe life into it and make it relevent.

Last year he hosted Saturday's Festival Session, this year he returns as himself as well as the jovial host of the session.

As sure as Martin Carthy has been the anchor of the folk movement in England, Brian has performed a similar role for music north of the border. I say that because whilst there are Celtic touches to his sound, the passion is Scottish.

Folk is emotional, political and frivolous, in short it is Brian McNeill.
