Rachel Goodwin

One of the problems with having three stagesis that you can't be in all of them at the same time. This means occasionally you miss out on something. One live set that I missed out on was Rachel Goodwin. It was unfortunate because it's been described to me as one of the best sign up sessions of the festival.

Certainly good enough to get her a signing session at the Mojo tant and hopefully good enough to get her a showcase next year.

I'd met Rachel earlier in the day and promised that I would try to get to her session. Unfortunately I didn't, but I did say that if I didn't make it, I would definitely give her debut album, "Hey" a listen.

I'm pretty glad I did. "Hey" is a pretty laid back album that really hits a mellow vibe. Goodwin gets her smooth, but not unemotive, vocals around some pretty good lyrics.

There is an element that reminds me a bit of Oldland Montano, but with a more English folk edge to it. "Hey", I recommend it. For more information including web details, click here.
