Filska

Filska is a Shetland word for high spirited, the sort of high spirits that you might get from a band still in their teens.

Once again I'm dumbfounded by the quality of a young band from a small group of Islands North of Scotland.

They've been making waves at fiddle festivals North of the border so it's great to get a chance to see them closer to home.

This is what happens when a community nurses it's tradition, infuses it with life and makes it feel that it matters. Filska are part of something that's vibrant, something to believe in, something to infuse.

More important they're something to see.
